Synopsis of short stories in my book Gardenias #Literary #Erotica

GARDENIAS:draft2:rose:cvr:thumbExciting news from the ERWA blog, ERWA authors are going to get a chance at having their books promoted, which is like, yay.

So, here is that fabulous review I got for Gardenias, in visuals from Shurrn in Goodreads.

What did she see?

It’s very amazing to see how one’s work can get interpreted by a “visual” artist.  Anyway, after the whole sort of EW! last night, and looking at The Studio Exec this morning, and thinking of something he said about James Spader… I remembered my fave film, maybe the first film James Spader was in, or at least the one where you watch a movie and you say to yourself, “watch that actor.”

It was “Sex, Lies and Videotape.”

— funny but that was 1989.  Wow. (Read, omg that was 25 years ago)…

The next film he was in was “Secretary,” and that was from a Gaitskill short story…

I really wish I could see Sex Lies and Videotape again, because it tells tales of a generation, but then so does Spader, who was named — can you believe it?  Gray in this film, from 2002.

Because?

I write short stories and they are not like what you just read in 50 Shades, at all.

In fact?  These are parts for A-List actors.  Really big A-Listers, and The Studio Exec made me start thinking about that, so… I am.

All I need is a screenwriter like the ones Spader had.  For those two films to sort all the stories out.  Not hard.  Easy!

So what’s in the book, story by story… hmmm………….

Gardenias:  a poetic riff on Paris, Chanel, Gardenias and falling in love — all the while to Billie Holiday’s he loves, me –he loves me not theme…

Red Leatherette: a sexy stranger, a dominant man, a red leatherette ottoman, a public orgasm — all to the sound of a sultry voice…

Haiku: relaxing riff while bathing a blindfolded man and kissing him all over to the sound of Japanese cranes and flutes… sex as poem…

Ikebana: an altar of flowers, the blindfold, the man, his body an altar.

Kodo: last part of the Haiku trilogy, off with the blindfold, a rushing river, water, Kodo drumbeats, two people reincarnated and washed clean by sex “like the sea tumbles stones.”

Lace: the power of lingerie, the power of black lace…

Absolute Wife: a young wife almost has an affair after a nervous breakdown during Christmas…

Inscapes: the yoga of elsewhere in a magic pavilion with the beloved…

Magic Feeling: more yoga, that handsome teacher, a fantasy that you can come to while orange blossoms fall…

Song of Solomon: a first love in Hollywood, the Chateau, remembrance, the break up after Chivas, a thousand petals scattering…

Prisoners: dark poetry at the villa, rain, love as paper in the wind… dancing, his hands…

Flowering: after her mother’s death Pris makes photographs and finds Yeats in bed…

Bukowski Girls: that damn Baxter — the biggest lothario in all of Big Sur… but, nobody ever forgets a bad boy like that…

American Daddy-O: an American tragedy, with a humanitarian end!

Viresence: a wicked, wicked, wicked threesome — plus a peach!

Petits pots de creme: It’s amazing what you think about when making dessert, if he’s that kind of man…

Creampuffs: the morning after, with a yummy, yummy…

Casa Azul: baths, bubbles and romance while a man cooks…

Islands: riffing on love with your best friend…

Afterglowing: two women on a beach discuss men and chivalry…

Valentine
